Applying for a New FESCO Connection

A new connection means a brand-new meter at your address. You apply with your documents, FESCO surveys the site and issues a Demand Notice with the cost, and once you pay, the meter is installed. This page covers:

Documents You Need

Gather these before you start. These core requirements come from NEPRA's consumer service rules. Your company may ask to see the originals or attested copies.

Proof that the premises are yours

An ownership document for the property, such as the registry, sale deed, allotment letter, or a lease. It must show your legal right to the place where you want the meter.

An affidavit on stamp paper

An affidavit on Rs. 50 non-judicial stamp paper stating that no connection existed at the premises before, that you will clear any old dues found later, and that you are not a defaulter on another connection.

Attested CNIC copies

Attested copies of your own CNIC and the CNIC of one witness.

A wiring test report

A wiring test report issued by the Electric Inspector or an authorized wiring contractor.

If you are a tenant

You can still apply in your own name, but you also need a No Objection Certificate from the owner, the owner's affidavit accepting responsibility for any unpaid bills, and an attested copy of the owner's CNIC.

Map, site plan, or NOC

An approved map, site plan, layout plan, or civic-authority NOC may be required. NEPRA's rules provide exemptions for several approved schemes, rural areas, and older settlements.

If a company is applying

A company also needs its incorporation certificate, a board resolution authorizing the person who will sign the Power Supply Contract, and the directors' details and CNIC copies.

How to Apply, Step by Step

Applying for a new FESCO connection runs through a few clear stages. Some are on you, and some are on FESCO.

1. Get your documents ready

Gather everything in the list above, with clear copies or scans. The company must tell you if information or documents are missing.

2. Submit the application

Apply online on the official portal (the button at the top of this page), or in person at your FESCO subdivision office. Enter your load in kilowatts, choose single-phase or three-phase, give the full address, and upload your documents.

3. Note your Tracking ID

When the application is received, the company gives you an acknowledgement with a serial number, Tracking ID, or Case ID. Save it. You need it to track the application and download the Demand Notice.

4. The technical survey

FESCO checks the site, the required load, and the work needed to provide the connection. The approved estimate is then used for the Demand Notice.

5. Pay the Demand Notice

After the application is processed, you receive a Demand Notice with the amount and due date. Pay it at a designated bank, or through the official online facility where the company provides one. Keep the acknowledgement receipt.

6. Meter installation

Once your payment is confirmed, FESCO runs the line, installs the meter, and energizes the connection. On installation day, note the meter number and the first reading to protect yourself against any early billing mistakes.

Types of Connection

Choose the use, load, and supply details carefully. A later change of tariff or sanctioned load needs a separate application.

Domestic

For a home used for residential purposes. Give the real expected load so the company can approve the correct sanctioned load and connection arrangement.

Commercial or general services

For shops, offices, and other premises that do not use electricity only for residential purposes. The tariff must match the actual use of the premises.

Agricultural

For eligible agricultural uses such as tube wells and farm equipment. The company checks the purpose and approved load before applying the agricultural tariff.

Industrial and bulk supply

For factories, production units, and eligible bulk-supply premises. Larger loads follow higher connection categories and may need dedicated network equipment.

What a New Connection Costs

There is no single fixed price. The official Demand Notice shows the amount for your approved connection.

What the Demand Notice covers

The company issues Demand Notices for the capital cost or connection charges and for the security deposit. The amount depends on the approved work and connection arrangement.

Check the estimate details

Under NEPRA's consumer service rules, the company must provide the estimate or bill-of-quantities details with the Demand Notice. Check those details before paying.

Security deposit refund

You can apply for a refund of the security deposit after permanent disconnection if there are no outstanding dues. The connection charges are separate from this deposit.

Payment in instalments

You may ask the company to allow the Demand Notice payment in instalments. NEPRA's rules say no markup is charged, but the connection is provided after full payment.

How Long It Takes

The total time depends on the survey and how much line work your connection needs, but the key deadlines are set by NEPRA's rules.

Paying the Demand Notice

You get 30 days to pay the Demand Notice, with a further grace period of up to 30 days. Pay early so your case keeps moving and the notice does not expire.

Small 230V or 400V connections

NEPRA's Annexure III gives Category 1, up to 15 kW, a total process time of 30 days. Category 2, above 15 kW and up to 70 kW, has 44 days.

Larger connections

Category 3, above 70 kW and up to 500 kW, has 58 days. Category 4, above 500 kW and up to 5 MW at 11kV or 33kV, has 106 days.

Your part in the process

Provide missing documents when asked and pay the Demand Notice on time. The company provides the connection after the required payment and application steps are complete.

After You Apply

Your Tracking ID is the key to everything that follows, so keep it safe.

Track your application

Use your Tracking ID, or your CNIC, to track your application on the official portal at any time.

Print and pay the Demand Notice

When the Demand Notice is ready, print it with your Tracking ID and pay it through an authorized route. If the portal offers the option, you can upload a copy of the paid receipt.

Changing name, load, or tariff later

If you later need to change the name, load, or tariff, that is a separate change application on the same official portal.
