How a New Connection Works

Every company follows the same broad path, set out in NEPRA's consumer service rules.

    Apply with your documents

    Submit the application online on the official portal, or in person at your company's office, with your ownership proof, affidavit, attested CNICs, and wiring test report.

    Get a Tracking ID

    You receive an acknowledgement with a serial number, Tracking ID, or Case ID. Keep it safe because you need it for tracking and the Demand Notice.

    Site and application check

    The company checks the site, approved load, documents, and the work needed to provide the connection. It then prepares the official estimate.

    Pay the Demand Notice

    You receive a Demand Notice with the amount and due date. Pay it at a designated bank, or through the official online facility where one is provided, and keep the acknowledgement.

    Meter installation

    Once your payment is confirmed, the company runs the line, installs the meter, and energizes the connection.

What is a new electricity connection (ENC)?
It is the process of getting a brand-new electricity meter installed at an address that does not have one. You apply to the distribution company that serves your area, they survey the site and issue a Demand Notice with the cost, and once you pay, they install the meter.
How do I apply for a new connection?
Choose your company below to open its page. Most companies take the application on the official online portal; you submit your documents, get a Tracking ID, wait for the survey, pay the Demand Notice, and the meter is installed.
What documents do I need?
The core documents are ownership proof, the required affidavit on Rs. 50 non-judicial stamp paper, attested CNIC copies of the applicant and a witness, and a wiring test report from the Electric Inspector or an authorized wiring contractor. A map, plan, or NOC may apply. Tenants and companies need additional documents.
How much does it cost and how long does it take?
There is no single fixed price. Your Demand Notice shows the capital cost or connection charges and the security deposit. NEPRA's Annexure III gives 30 days for Category 1 up to 15 kW, 44 days for Category 2, 58 days for Category 3, and 106 days for Category 4. You also get 30 days to pay the Demand Notice and may request up to 30 more days.
